Frequently Asked Questions about the Teddy Bear Gift Program
Are contributions tax deductible? Yes, the Theodore Roosevelt Association is a 501 © (3) nonprofit organization and contributions of gifts or gifts in kind are fully tax deductible as allowed by law. We provide tax receipts for all donations made to TRA.
How much of my donation supports the Teddy Bear Gift Program? 100% of funds collected are directed to the Teddy Bear Gift Program for children in hospitals by the Theodore Roosevelt Association.
Do you accept teddy bears or other stuffed animals? No, we do not accept new or used stuffed animals. We only donate and distribute our special teddy bears. We would encourage you to donate “previously loved” teddy bears to your local not-for-profit agencies.
When donating on-line using my credit card, is it safe and secure? All credit card transactions conducted on this site are routed through a third party’s secure server. The secure server can send and receive private information across the public internet by scrambling (encrypting) it.
Can I purchase a teddy bear for my child or grandchild? No, the Theodore Roosevelt Association organization is dedicated to providing children in hospitals with teddy bears and does not offer these items for sale to the general public.
Can I direct my donation to a specific children’s hospital in my local area? No, most likely we have already established a donation program with your local children’s hospital. There are over 50 donation programs and the list keeps growing each year as we expand our donation efforts. Each participating hospital has a designated person to coordinate distribution to the children, as they deem appropriate.
Are the Teddy Bears safe for children? Our teddy bears are purchased new and meet all US government safety standards. Each plush, brown, 14-inch teddy bear arrives wearing our official tag, with the story of the first Teddy Bear.
What time of the year are the Teddy Bears given to the children in hospitals? Throughout the year, teddy bears are sent to specific children’s hospitals that have gift programs for emergency rooms, sick children’s wards and special needs.
